Take a trip of to the 100-foot-wide stained glass window at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. This entirely fused and kiln-formed window installation is still making waves in the stained glass world and it would be a travesty to get this close to the project without going to take a look yourself!

Part tour and part field session, get a behind-the-scenes look at this monumental installation by Judson Studios focusing in on the installation, the mechanics, and the ongoing efforts of the community in learning how to live with their building and all of its spectacular sacred art.

Our docents for this tour include members of the church who served on the vestry while researching, choosing, and managing the project; members of maintenance who helped install and continue to care for the window; and the lighting designer, who continues to find ways to light the piece to both the interior and exterior of the building to work with specific sacred programs.

This is truly a tour curated for architectural glass art nerds that know that fundraising and construction are just the first steps in the lifetime of a window. This tour is unfortunately NOT accessible - please bring close-toed shoes as we will be climbing lots of stairs and then ascending all the way up BEHIND the window, and possibly (if you wish) even up to the catwalk near the upper portion of the window. We are so grateful that the staff and community at Church of the Resurrection is opening up the building so much to our conference and we can't wait to see the window from this perspective ourselves!
