Workshop: Introduction to Using Lead Came to Create Your Windows

Workshop Count: 10 attendees
This is a beginners class to migrate experienced copper foil proficient artists to using lead came. Class will focus on creating new windows and repair existing windows made with lead came. This workshop will advance the skills of stained glass artists and encourage professional development of artists.
Participants Will Learn
- Lead safety and how to set up their studio to work with lead came
- The basics of crafting stained glass windows with lead came
- How to make repairs to existing leaded stained glass windows
Prerequisites
Participants will need to take a Lead Safety in Construction online class (opens new window) with Click Safety prior to attending class. Participants will need to be proficient in copper foiling, glass cutting, and basic stained glass design and construction.

All materials will be provided to workshop attendees. If you wish to bring your own eye protection, mask, apron, or gloves you are welcome to. Please wear proper PPE: long pants, close toed shoes, and if you have long hair please tie it back.
There will be a lunch break, but food will not be provided. Please bring your own water bottle, food, or snacks. Bring cash! If you do not want to pack a lunch, there is a pizza shop next door to J & R Lamb Studio. Also, after the workshop concludes, attendees are welcome to attend dinner with the J & R Lamb Studio team to network.
About the Studio & Instructors
J & R Lamb Studios is the oldest continually operated stained glass studio in America. Founded in 1857, J & R Lamb Studios has been led by two families for over five generations. David Bleckman and his wife Kathryn Bleckman, continue the tradition of family ownership after the passing of David’s mother and artist, Donna Samick.
David and Kathryn have been involved with the studio since 2000, and David has been working full-time at the studio as Chief Financial Officer, estimator, restoration craftsman, and artist since 2016. David also has his MBA in Finance and had a career in banking prior to supporting the family studio full time.
Edgar Carchi who is a master craftsman with 18 years’ experience and a Lamb employee for 13 years. He has experience as a glazier, in metalwork, mosaics, and fusing.
