For more than 100 years, The Stained Glass Association of America’s annual summer conference has served a vital role in the industry, bringing together artists and studios from across the country to exchange ideas and perspectives. Each year's national conference provides an educational and creative hub for glass artists, historians, manufacturers, and architects. Whether you're an established studio or just learning stained glass; if you're an architect or building caretaker; if you're making public art or small panels for private homes, our conferences have something for you.
Please plan on joining your friends and colleagues both familiar and new for an inspirational and thought-provoking conference that will bring every facet of our industry together in celebration.

Pan-American Expositions, Presidential assassinations, and world-class architecture.
By 1906 (the year the Stained Glass Quarterly was founded), Buffalo was the 6th largest port in the world. By 1951, it was the 11th largest industrial center in the country, the largest inland water port, the 2nd largest railroad center, and the 15th largest city in the country. Its collection of architecture boasts Richardson, Sullivan, Wright, Olmsted & Vaux, Bunshaft, Yamasaki, and Pei. Its Grain Elevators inspired Le Corbusier. Forts on both sides of the border. World class parks. A bustling, renewed waterfront. A city surrounded by vineyards. And, of course, Niagara Falls.
Buffalo is the second largest city in New York. In 1798 Joseph Ellicott, a land agent and surveyor for the Holland Land Company, arrived at the junction of the Buffalo River and Lake Erie. Soon afterward, he began to lay out streets and lots for a village he called New Amsterdam, but which the residents insisted on calling Buffalo. Ellicott’s grid plan forming bicycle-like spokes, interrupted by diagonals, was based on the grid plan of Washington DC, designed by Ellicott’s brother Andrew Ellicott. Ellicott predicted that Buffalo would someday be a huge city and an important inland port. Ellicott's vision came to fruition in 1825 with the completion of the Erie Canal from the Hudson River at Albany to Buffalo Harbor, kickstarting a century of meteoric growth for Buffalo.
