June 28-30, 2010 A New Way… in a New Day The Stained Glass Association is looking forward to
meeting in the home city of its national headquarters and is celebrating
with a new, lower pricing structure for early registration: register now
for only $200! Pricing goes up after January 1. The list of lectures will include motivational
speakers, business planning in the studio and in cyberspace, and expert
speakers in a wide range of topics, including: The Art of Making Glass;
Architects – What They Expect; Visual Theology: Art in the Catholic
Church; Exploring Artistic Creativity. Registrants will also be visiting
the office and be able to review the permanent home site and building
plans. Demonstrations will be available for building websites, mosaics,
installation, and business planning. The Stained Glass School will host two days of
pre-Conference classes June 26 and 27, including classes on Sandblasting
with Kathy Barnard and Flesh Painting: A China Painting Approach with
Kathy Jordan. Bob Markert has been asked to teach his very popular new
approach to painting class again. Editor Richard Gross will conduct a
class on Stained Glass Photography at the Grace & Trinity Cathedral. A major exhibition of glass panels is also being
planned. Sales from these panels will go toward the Stained Glass School

sponsor an exciting, one-week glass art conference and sailing round

Solstice. The conference will feature art glass lectures, slide
presentations, and demonstrations by nationally known glass artists,

International Conferences Edinburgh,
Scotland – October 1-4, 2010: An international conference to
celebrate 400 years of glassmaking in Scotland will be held at Edinburgh
College of Art. Part of a year-long celebration of glass making in
Scotland, the speakers have already been confirmed. Brian Blench, Helen
Munro Turner, Graham Cooley, and Andy Nowson. Geoffrey Seddon will speak
on the Jacobite Rebellion and Scottish glass; Siobhan Healy on natural
form in design; and Jill Turnbull, an expert on the early history of
Scottish glass, will join eminent experts Nigel Benson and Simon Cottle.

Exhibitions Tacoma, WA –
Oct. 31, 2008 – Feb. 2011: The Museum of Glass will open a new
exhibition that pays tribute to the imagination of children. Kids Design
Glass showcases 52 glass sculptures designed by children and crafted by
professional glass artists in the Museum of Glass Hot Shop.

The Vetrate Artistiche Toscane is accepting applications for its
apprenticeship programs. There are apprenticeships lasting two months
(January – February; March – April; November – December) and three
lasting one month (May, August, and October). Although designed to be of
benefit to the beginner and intermediate, advanced and professional
glass artists have also found the apprenticeship useful to enhance their
skills. Apprenticeships will be held in Siena in English and target most
